We all thought 2022 would be the year the world would be rid of COVID. And for a while there in between, it seemed like that too- but 2022 is coming with the threat of Omicron and Deltamicron, so it really isn't going anywhere anytime soon- a fact that is sort of being confirmed by state governments all over the country who are clamping regulations and guidelines to keep the spread of COVID in check. If you have your wedding slated anytime soon, we are sure your panic, frustration and blood pressure are all rising fast right now- and for good reason! Uncertainty seems to be in the air again. But take a look at the latest guidelines in your region- in a lot of places, especially big cities, the choice would be either to scale down the wedding, or postpone it by waiting to ride the wave out depending on how it goes, maybe to Feb-April 2022 for now. What are the new government guidelines for weddings in India? What's the wedding guest limit? As far as the latest COVID 19 guidelines for weddings are concerned, they differ from one state to the other and one metro city to the other. Here is a comprehensive list so far, which are bound to impact the weddings at the end of December 2021 and early-mid January 2022:

Wedding Guidelines in Delhi

    Weddings are not allowed in public places like banquet halls or hotels, allowed only at court or homes with not more than 20 people.
    There is a daily night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am.

Wedding Guidelines for Mumbai & Maharashtra

    BMC has said that prior permission is now mandatory for any program or event to be attended by 200 or more people.

    The latest BMC circular said that if the owner, hotelier or organizers claim that their venue has the capacity to accommodate more than 200 persons even after following COVID-19-related norms and ensuring 6 ft by 6 ft distance between individuals, prior written permission of the assistant municipal commissioner must be obtained.
    Further, closed (indoor) halls can operate at 50 per cent of their total capacity, while open-to-sky venues shall operate at only 25 per cent of total capacity.

Wedding Guidelines for Bangalore & Karnataka

    Night curfew has been put in place from December 28, 2021, to January 7, 2022, between 10 PM to 5 AM.
    Restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs are now supposed to function with 50 per cent of their seating capacity strictly adhering to COVID appropriate behavior.

Wedding Guidelines for Kerala

    Kerala government has announced a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am between December 30 and January 2.
    Bars, hotels, clubs, and restaurants in Kerala will be allowed to operate during this time with 50 per cent seating.
    The government has asked citizens to avoid unnecessary travel.
    The government is expected to announce a curb on the number of guests at weddings soon.

Wedding Guidelines for Punjab

    No guidelines are specified for night curfew or weddings for now.

Wedding Guidelines for Chandigarh

    Haryana government as well as the Chandigarh administration have banned the entry of un-vaccinated people into public spaces from January 1.

    The administration is also considering imposing a night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am.
    A gathering of more than 200 people will not be allowed in public places and other programs.

Wedding Guidelines for Gujarat

    Eight major cities of Gujarat will go into a night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am. Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Junagadh and Gandhinagar.

Wedding Guidelines for Rajasthan

    There is an 11 pm-5 am night curfew in the state.
    COVID vaccination made mandatory, masking rules to be adhered to.

Wedding Guidelines for Haryana

    The maximum number of people allowed at a wedding ceremony has been increased from 11 to 20.
    Marriages will be allowed at home and courts or anywhere the couple wishes to with a maximum limit of 20 persons.

Wedding Guidelines for Uttar Pradesh

    Section 144 has been imposed in the state from 1 December, which will stay in place till 31 December.
    There is a Night curfew in place from 11 pm to 5 am with effect from 25 December.

Wedding Guidelines for Uttarakhand

    Uttarakhand Government has imposed a night curfew in the state as Omicron cases rise. Night curfew will be in effect from 11 pm to 5 am.

Wedding Guidelines for Madhya Pradesh

    Madhya Pradesh has also imposed a night curfew from 11 pm till 5 am as a “precautionary measure."

Wedding Guidelines for Goa

    No restrictions are imposed in the state yet except COVID appropriate behaviour.

Wedding Guidelines for Jammu & Kashmir

    The Union Territory Administration has mandated that all passengers travelling to Jammu and Kashmir by road shall have to take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
